Payment & Delivery
Where can I find the Card Number? The Card Number is the long, raised number on the front in the centre of the payment card. The card number tends to be 15 to 19 digits long. Payment can be made using a debit or credit card. We accept UK Maestro, VISA Debit and Electron debit cards and VISA and MasterCard credit cards.
What is the Security Code? The Security Code is an important new security feature that now appears on the back of most credit cards and debit cards. It is a three-digit number, which provides a check of the information embossed on the card.
The Security Code helps validate that the customer actually has the payment card in his or her possession and that the payment card account is legitimate. The code is only printed on the card and it is not contained in the magnetic strip information nor does it appear on sales receipts or billing statements - you must have the card in your possession in order to use this code.
Why has my payment card not been accepted? You will need to contact the payment card issuer to find out why your payment card was not accepted (bank, building society).
What address is the tax disc and receipt sent to?The tax disc and payment receipt will be sent to the registered keeper's address currently held by DVLA and should arrive in the post within 5 working days. Do not use this service if you have recently moved and you have not yet received the Registration Certificate in your new address.
Will I receive SORN confirmation? If you have not provided an e-mail address then print the SORN Confirmation page by using the buttons provided on the right hand side of that screen as DVLA will not send you an acknowledgement letter.
If this is not possible then you should make a note of the reference number and Vehicle Registration Mark which can be used to confirm your transaction.
Why does the tax disc take up to 5 working days to be delivered? We allow up to a day for the application to be processed. The tax disc will then be printed and despatched to Royal Mail. This can take up to 5 working days.
