Skills Health Check Tools video transcript

Welcome to the 'Skills Health Check Tools'.

This is an important step in working out what kind of work is right for you.

It's a bit like taking your car for an MOT - except there is no pass or fail.

It makes sure that everything's working OK and that you're not going to get any surprises along the way.

The Skills Health Check Tools are an easy to complete series of questions designed to put you in a better position to start making decisions that are right for you and your career.

After working through the Skills Health Check Tools, you might find that you want to brush up on certain things or even train for something new.

There are other sections on the site that can help you with this.

It could be that you're happy with your skills, but you just want to try something different.

We can help you explore other exciting careers.

But before you start, have a think about what you like best about work.

It could be that you like making decisions, or that you like to work within a team; maybe you like selling things to people, or perhaps prefer organising things.

The Skills Health Check Tools will help you understand what motivates you, and your personal working style.

This will help you decide what type of work would suit you based on your strengths.

It's a good idea to consider what you think you're best at, maybe you have a good idea what your strengths are or maybe you just don't know for sure...

The Skills Health Check Tools will provide you with a clear report on where your particular skills lie and what you're best at.

Once you've got your report, remember to use it!

Not only will the report provide you with your results and offer you careers advice, it also allows you to remove types of jobs you are not interested in, so that you see types of work that you are more likely to enjoy.

You can print off your report any time you like - you can also go back and complete more questionnaires and activities later on.

Finally, if there's anything you don't understand, or if you want more help or information, one of our advisers will be happy to take your call and answer your questions.

We’re interested in your opinion!

We’d like to know what you think of the National Careers Service website.
