Welcome to the National Careers Service.

This service is dedicated to helping you get the advice you need to improve your skills and to get on in life.

First things first - don't panic, whether you're looking for your first job, looking to learn something new, just been made redundant or wanting to find a better job or just browsing you'll find pretty much everything you need to help you, on this site and if you need anything more, there's always our helpline for honest and impartial advice.

We understand that you may have lots of decisions ahead but we're here to help you from helping you take the next step in your career, right through to offering tips for the first day in your new job.

So let's get started.

Here are some of the things you can do.

Develop your Action Plan, this will help you set out what you want to achieve and will act as a checklist on how to get there.

It's always good to keep your CV up to date and as complete as it can be.

Our CV builder is really helpful and easy to use.

The Skills Health Check tools can help you identify what your strengths are and think about what kind of work is right for you.

It might be that after going through these, you think you need to brush up on certain things,in that case take a look through our list of courses where you can find out how to get the right skills or qualifications,you may just want to do something completely different.

Our Careers Library can give you all sorts of useful information about hundreds of different jobs.

And remember that you can create a Lifelong Learning Account to easily store your information as you go.
