CVs and covering letters

Signing off

The last paragraph of your covering letter needs to pull it all together. It needs to leave employers with a positive impression of you and make it clear what you'd like to happen next.

Suggest where to get more information

Invite the reader to get more details about you from the enclosed CV.

Suggest a response

If you're replying to an advertised vacancy, say you're looking forward to hearing from them. Explain how you'd like to be contacted, whether it's by phone, email or post. But make sure your contact details are on your covering letter and CV.

If you're applying on the off-chance of a job, you could say you'll wait for their call or that you will call them in a week or two. You could even ask for an interview or an informal chat, as long as you're polite and not too pushy.
