This course is designed for students who wish to work with children and young people aged 0-19 years old. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in statutory, private and voluntary childcare settings. It consists of mandatory and optional units, which are based on either competence or knowledge. It also contains optional units from the Level 3 Diploma for learners who wish to undertake a higher level of study. You are required to attend a childcare placement setting one day a week. You will need to have a valid CRB (Criminal Record Bureau check), which can be obtained through the college at a small additional cost. Advice, interview and assessment required.

What will I study? This course is for those who are interested in working with young people and helping to address some of the basic issues that affect them. You will develop a basic understanding of the youth work sector, and different youth work settings. You will complete at least 40 hours of supervised work placement and develop your personal skills including communications, numeracy and IT skills.
