Learning for free

Many courses in literacy and numeracy are free, and you may not have to pay for tuition if you are going for your first qualification equivalent to GCSEs or A levels. There is a wider range of free courses available if you’re on income-related benefits, and there are opportunities for everyone to learn for free online.

Since 6 April 2010, if you are an employee and work in an organisation with 250 or more employees, you have the right to request time for study or training. This right is known as 'time to train'. To qualify, you must have worked for your employer continuously for at least 26 weeks before you apply.
