Apply online to change the address on your driving licence

You can change the address on your current British driving licence online if you:

  • have your driving licence in your possession (both parts if it’s a photocard licence)
  • are a resident of Great Britain
  • are currently not prevented from driving for any reason
  • have a valid UK passport or another form of identity
  • can provide addresses of where you have lived over the last three years

If your name has changed you will not be able to apply online. To apply to change your name you must apply by post using a D1 application form. For more information on how to change the name on your driving licence please use the link below.

Note: if you don’t have both parts of your photocard licence (the photocard and the paper counterpart), you'll need to pay a fee.

If you wish to renew the photo on your licence as part of your application you must provide a UK passport issued within the last five years.

Do it online - do it quicker

Please have the following to hand:

  • your driving licence
  • your UK passport if you have one
  • your National Insurance number if you have one
  • details of previous addresses

DVLA will aim to send your driving licence within two weeks of you submitting your application.
