This course is for adults wishing to gain the approved qualification for teaching assistants in schools. The course requires one and a half days attendance in college and at least six hours per week paid or voluntary work in a school setting. NB. This is in development for approval in September 2010.
The course gives you an opportunity to extend your skills in the methods used in schools to promote learning. You will bring your own experiences into the classroom and discuss and relate them to each topic studied. There will be preparation for the Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy tests and an opportunity to take these within the course. Your tutor will observe you in your own school, helping to develop your classroom practice.
