Examples of these are support literacy and numeracy activities. observe and report on pupil performance, support children's play and learning, support a child with disabilities or special needs, support the use of ICT for teaching and learning. The Level 2 Award for Support Work in Schools is an ideal qualification for those candidates who wish to train to become teaching assistants and for those candidates already working as teaching assistants who would like to gain recognition and competence of knowledge acquired whilst working in the childcare sector. Course Content The qualification consists of 4 mandatory units: 1. Child and young person development 2. Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people 3. Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults 4. Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people and 1 further unit: 1. Schools as organisations Candidates must successfully complete all five units to be awarded C & G Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools. Letters of Unit Credit may be requested for those candidates not achieving the full award but who achieve at least one whole unit.
