You can use this calculator to:

  • get an estimate of how much your Housing Benefit could be reduced by if you exceed the level of the benefit cap
  • print the results

The information you put in will not be stored and will only take a few minutes to complete.


To answer the questions you will need information about the amount of weekly award for each benefit or allowance you or someone in your household have been awarded.


Contact your Local Authority if you require information about other changes which may reduce the amount of Housing Benefit you receive.


Award

This is the weekly amount of benefit or allowance you are entitled to before any money has been taken off to pay for example a Social Fund Loan or an overpayment or for gas, electric or water.


Household

For the purposes of benefit cap a household is defined as:

  • you
  • your partner
  • any children you are responsible for who live with you
