Making a claim on a deceased's estate to the Treasury Solicitor: genealogists

Information on genealogists: who they are, what they do and why they may contact you.

Genealogists

Genealogists are professional firms who specialise in tracing beneficiaries of an estate. You may be contacted by a genealogist who has seen one of the Treasury Solicitor's advertisements, which are published on the Bona Vacantia website and in national and local newspapers. These independent firms have not been instructed by or represent the Treasury Solicitor but often make enquiries for blood relatives of a deceased. It is entirely up to you whether you decide to use their services and the Treasury Solicitor can not provide you with advice.

If you believe you are an entitled blood relative, then you need to submit your name, contact information, family history and details of your relationship to the deceased using the 'are you an entitled relative search' on the Bona Vacantia link below.
