Simple Payment

Simple Payment is a way for people who don’t have an account to collect benefit, pension or child maintenance payments. You collect your payments from a PayPoint outlet that displays the Simple Payment sign. Find out more, including how to find a PayPoint outlet displaying the Simple Payment sign in your area.

Collecting your payments

When your benefit, pension or child maintenance payment is due, take your Simple Payment card to a PayPoint outlet displaying the Simple Payment sign. Your payment will be available for collection there.

To collect a payment, you’ll need to give your card and confirm your memorable date. You’ll also need to provide some identification. This could be a:

  • valid UK photo or paper driving licence
  • current passport
  • current gas, electricity, water or landline phone bill (less than three months old)

Find a full list of the identity documents you can use on page 5 of the 'Questions about your Simple Payment card' leaflet.

Find a PayPoint outlet that displays the Simple Payment sign

PayPoint outlets are found in local newsagents, convenience stores or supermarkets. You can only use a PayPoint outlet that displays the Simple Payment sign - not all PayPoint outlets will display the Simple Payment sign.

Use the postcode search tool to find your local Paypoint outlet that displays a Simple Payment sign.

If you need someone else to collect your money

This is your money, so you must choose someone you can trust to collect your payments for you.

If the same person always collects your payments, they can get their own Simple Payment card to collect your payments. To collect payments for you, they need to:

  • show their own card
  • confirm their memorable date
  • show their own proof of identity

If different people collect your payments for you, you will have to give them your own Simple Payment card to use each time. You will also need to give them your memorable date. They will have to show your proof of identity, as well as their own.

Find out more about how someone else can collect your payments on page 8 of the 'Questions about your Simple Payment card' leaflet.

If you lose your Simple Payment card

Phone 0800 032 5872 if you lose your card. Lines are open 24 hours a day.

Your card will be blocked and a new one posted to you. You won’t miss out on any of your payments. Depending on the circumstances, we can arrange for immediate access to your payment if necessary.

If you don't want to be paid by Simple Payment

Phone the office that looks after your claim. They can tell you about your payment options and help you decide which is best for you.
