How do I find my reference number?

You should be given a copy of the EPC produced when an energy assessor assessed your property. Your reference number is displayed on this report though it may be referred to as the Report Reference Number or the RRN.

The reference number is shown as five groups of four numbers, separated by hyphens e.g. 1234-1234-1234-1234-1234.

I don't have a copy of my EPC. Can I still use the EPC adviser?

Yes, you can. You can search for an EPC for your property using the following link then use the Report Reference Number from the downloaded report in EPC adviser.

Why doesn't my reference number work with EPC Adviser?

Your EPC is not supported by the EPC Adviser facility

There are two types of EPCs that can be produced for a dwelling:

• RdSAP EPCs
• SAP EPCs

Of the above, only RdSAP EPCs are supported by the EPC Adviser facility.

Your EPC was produced before 21st September 2008

EPCs lodged in the Register before 21st September 2008 are not supported by the EPC Adviser facility.

Your EPC has been cancelled

In this situation you cannot retrieve your EPC from the England and Wales Domestic Register website and therefore these EPCs are not supported by the EPC Adviser facility.
