If you’re 16, 17 or 18 and studying in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales, you may be eligible for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). You can get up to £30 a week to help you with the cost of learning.
EMA in England has closed to new applicants. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have their own EMA schemes. You must apply to the EMA scheme for the country you're studying in.
For example, if you are an English student temporarily living in Scotland while you study, apply for Scottish EMA. If you are a Scottish student studying in England, discuss support options with student services at your school, college or the local authority where you live.
