Her Majesty’s Coastguard co-ordinates Search and Rescue from its network of 19 Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres. MRCC watch-keeping staff provide a 24 hour service to mariners and coast users in receiving incoming distress calls, alerting the appropriate rescue assets, and co-ordinating the rescue effort.
Belfast MRCC covers the area between Northern Ireland/Irish Republic borders at Lough Foyle and Carlingford Lough.
