The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is an independent body funded by subscriptions from universities and colleges of higher education, and through contracts with the main higher education funding bodies.
QAA checks how universities maintain their own academic standards and quality. It reviews and reports on how they meet their responsibilities, identify good practice and make recommendations for improvement. It publishes guidelines to help institutions develop effective systems to ensure students have the best learning experience.
