Bona Vacantia Division (Treasury Solicitor's Department)

The Bona Vacantia Division of the Treasury Solicitor's Department administers the estates of those deceased who died intestate and for whom no beneficiaries can be traced and collects the assets of dissolved companies and failed trusts in England and Wales. Bona Vacantia is a common law doctrine under which ownerless property passes by law to the Crown.
