Makaton Vocabulary Development Project

The Makaton Charity is a registered charity which provides a language programme offering a structured, multi-modal approach for the teaching of communication, language and literacy skills for children and adults with a variety of communication and learning disabilities. Makaton users are first encouraged to communicate using signs, then gradually, as a link is made between the word and the sign, the signs are dropped and speech takes over.
