Insolvency Service

The Insolvency Service is an executive agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). It deals with insolvency matters in England and Wales and some limited insolvency matters in Scotland by administering and investigating the affairs of bankrupts, companies and partnerships wound up by the court and establishing why they became insolvent. It also assesses and pays statutory entitlement to redundancy where an employer cannot or will not pay its employees and provides information on insolvency and redundancy.
