Intellectual Property Office

The Intellectual Property Office (formerly known as the Patent Office) is responsible for granting intellectual property rights in the UK. Intellectual property could be a brand, an invention, a design or a song. It is responsible for examining and issuing, or rejecting, patents. It also keeps registers of intellectual property including patents, designs and trademarks in the UK.
